2014-09-30 /// A program ‘Materials from solid and liquid industrial process Residues’, or in short MarRes has been approved by SIM (Strategic Innitiative Materials) at program level. Projects within this program will be further developed in the comming years. The program MaRes aims at creating and demonstrating an operational, flexible toolbox to recover metals and valorize residual matrix into building materials. In relation to the latter aspect UGent DBm is one of the partners.
2014-06-12 /// Mieke De Schepper at UGent Magnel Laboratory has developed Completely Recyclable Concrete. This technology for a more environment-friendly construction will be presented during her PhD defence on 1 July 2014 (17:00, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Plateaustraat, Gent - contact us for further information).
2014-06-06 /// The Magnel Laboratory, partner in DBm, has developed a unique experimental set-up to verify the robustness of concrete structures. This has been part of the PhD work of Dirk Gouverneur, 'Experimental and numerical analysis of tensile membrane action in reinforced concrete slabs in the framework of structural robustness', which will be presented on 23 June 2014 (17:00, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Plateaustraat, Gent - contact us for further information).
