2015-03-15 /// Zelfhelend beton, een technologie waarbij scheuren in beton zichzelf herstellen (net zoals een wondje bij de mens zich geneest), is één van de speerpunten binnen DBm. Deze baanbrekende ontwikkeling haalde het VTMnieuws.

Spin-off Sanacon opgericht

sanacon2015-01-15 /// De UGent spin-off SANACON is opgericht. Deze service spin-off richt zich op schadediagnose en herstellingsadvies voor bouwkundige constructies en in het bijzonder betonschade. De spin-off is opgericht door onderzoekers Tim Soetens en Mathias Maes, met UGent Labo Magnel voor Betononderzoek als structurele partner. SANACON begeleidt eigenaars, bouwheren, architecten, aannemers en studiebureau's bij duurzame renovatie van bouwwerken.

DBm op 50j CIVT

SIM program "MaRes" approved

2014-09-30 /// A program ‘Materials from solid and liquid industrial process Residues’, or in short MarRes has been approved by SIM (Strategic Innitiative Materials) at program level. Projects within this program will be further developed in the comming years. The program MaRes aims at creating and demonstrating an operational, flexible toolbox to recover metals and valorize residual matrix into building materials. In relation to the latter aspect UGent DBm is one of the partners.

Completely recyclable concrete minimizes environmental impact

Unique test set-up for robustness of structures

2014-06-06 /// The Magnel Laboratory, partner in DBm, has developed a unique experimental set-up to verify the robustness of concrete structures. Green concrete

2014-05-24 /// The Polytechnical University of Catalonia and UGent joined forces on developing concrete surfaces as biological substratum, a concept to increase green areas in cities. The work resulted in a joint PhD on 'Bioreceptivity optimisation of concrete substratum to stimulate biological colonisation' by Sandra Manso Blanco, of which the public defence takes place 3 June 2014 at 16:00 at the the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (Jozef Plateaustraat, Gent).

FESG wins FIREFORUM AWARD 2013

2013-11-23 /// DBm spin-off Fire Engineered Solutions Ghent (FESG) wins the Fireforum Awards 2013 in the category engineering offices. The Fireforum Award honors people or organizations that ​​meritorious contributed to the world of firefighting. The jury highlighted the work of FESG for the conversion of an underground station into a disco in the city of Liege. This project included large challenges for the evacuation facilities and smoke and heat exhaust ventilation systems due to the architecture of the station.
