Unique test set-up for robustness of structures

Green concrete

2014-05-24 /// The Polytechnical University of Catalonia and UGent joined forces on developing concrete surfaces as biological substratum, a concept to increase green areas in cities. The work resulted in a joint PhD on 'Bioreceptivity optimisation of concrete substratum to stimulate biological colonisation' by Sandra Manso Blanco, of which the public defence takes place 3 June 2014 at 16:00 at the the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (Jozef Plateaustraat, Gent).

FESG wins FIREFORUM AWARD 2013

2013-11-23 /// DBm spin-off Fire Engineered Solutions Ghent (FESG) wins the Fireforum Awards 2013 in the category engineering offices. The Fireforum Award honors people or organizations that ​​meritorious contributed to the world of firefighting. The jury highlighted the work of FESG for the conversion of an underground station into a disco in the city of Liege. This project included large challenges for the evacuation facilities and smoke and heat exhaust ventilation systems due to the architecture of the station. This is the second edition of the awards, and this year we have 2 DBm partners which are nominated. In the category engineering offices the UGent DBm spin-off Fire Engineered Solutions Ghent is among the nominates. In the category scientific institutes, the Magnel Laboratory for Concrete Research (founding partner of DBm) is nominated. Congratulations for the good work.
